Tuensang Nagaland
Tuensang is located in the eastern part of Nagaland. It is bounded by Mon and Longleng Districts in the north and north east respectively, Mokokchung in the northwest, Zunheboto in the southwest, Kiphire in the south, and Myanmar in the east. In the early seventies, at the instance of the Geographical Survey of India in collaboration with the Myanmar Government, 9(nine) RCC pillars touching Tuensang were erected all along the International Border demarcating India and Myanmar. The whole area of the district is 1,728 sq.km (Approximately).
Tuensang town is located at 26.28°N 94.83°E. It has an average elevation of 1371 metres (4498 feet).The town has a distance of 269 Kms from Kohima via Whoka and Mokokchung district and 235 Kms via Zunheboto district. It is connected by National Highway 202, NST buses ply on this route regularly. The District is inhabited by four major tribes, the Changs, the Yimchungers, the Khiamniungans and the Sangtams and sub-tribe, Tikhirs under the nomenclature of Yimchunger.
The tribes inhabiting in the District are rich in cultural heritage and their dresses are very colorful. Their dances are rhythmic and songs are heartwarming.
The climate of the District falls under sub-tropical type in the low land areas while higher areas have temperate climate. The annual rainfall is 2000mm and the maximum and minimum temperature recorded 30 and 5 degree centigrade respectively.
The most common practice of agriculture is Jhum-Shifting cultivation. The main crops are Rice Maize, Millet, Kholar bean etc. Beside varieties of wild fruits and vegetables are found in this district. Handicrafts and handloom are the main culture in this district.

Tuensang is a destination in Nagaland where it is impossible to get a direct route by air but the closest airport to Tuensang is Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and Dimapur Airport.
By Rail:
The closest railway station to Tuensang is Dimapur railway station and Guwahati railway station. However, Mariani Junction railway station can also be considered close to Nagaland destinations.
By Road:
You will find buses and taxis for hire from every airport and railway stations. You can also get into a Nagaland State Transport (NST) buses that run to and fro around Nagaland.
